Seems like I haven't posted in a while. After that last one in 2010, I fell into a funk and had a serious health-scare in early 2014. I'm doing much better now. Health is decent and I bought my latest house in early 2015. It's not far from the previous two, over there near NE Prescott in the East Cully neighborhood. Mr. Howl ended but most of the same folks formed a new band called Lagoon Squad doing surfy instrumentals before adding a chick singer for the 2016 Nuggets Night. We're still doing Giant Bug Village and I'm now on bass, with some new kids on guitars and drums and Stan still singing.
Lots to report since my last post but I will keep it a quick summary. Mr. Howl is still playing occasional (in the 60's garage-psych genre) Stan has some shows coming-up and we're working on the new CD supposedly. Did some duo shows with Michele at Beaterville and even did a couple of solo gigs. Got a cool apartment over in the Alberta district. Still doing some music at the liberal, non-christian, church and working with the high-school group.
My Musical Weekend Ok, so I did that show on Feb 27 2009 at the White Eagle and it was fine but a little anti-climactic IMHO. The Stan band was the headliner and it just seemed like our energy was down and there's no sound-guy so we struggled a little to be heard. Still we had some good moments once we got going and our crowd stuck around even though Friday is a tough night. Honestly I had a much better performance on Friday APril 10th at Slabtown (also with The Stan McMcMahon band) We had Nathan Jr adding guitar and harmonie and the same from Aaron SMith (another founding member) For the Slabtown show we had a soundman and we all have much more fun. May compliments from the audience too. It appears that I have officially joined the band and Nate will be there too, doing guitar and keys. It was a busy weekend, first I had to sing with the choir at the Tenebrae service, then go to the Stan gig at Slabtow -with the amazing band The Welfare State and also The Oblik (some of whom were ...

Area musician joins Zooey's pal for tour, TV. Paul fills-in for CD-release show M. Ward is that lucky Portland musician who worked with Zooey Deschanel on the She & Him Cd. Ward's latest work Hold Time comes out this month (Feb 2009) and is eagerly awaited by fans of his 2006 disc Post-War along with his previous releases going back nearly a decade. A supporting tour kicks-off this month including David Letterman (tune-in on Tue Feb 17th) and some East Coast dates, before heading to Europe, then returning home for 2 sold-out nights at the Aladdin in March . They just added the Coachella fest on April 17th. Nathan gets the nod Playing keys and guitar for the tour will be Nathan Jr., a versatile multi-instrumentalist and singer who also manages the Alberta branch of Trade-up Music. Nathan is the regular bassist for the Stan McMahon Band and he's worked with Stan for years. Nathan also records and performs his own music and is generally in-demand as a hired-gun for re...

Upcoming events for Q1 2009 : The UU Church in Vancouver is hosting a concert by the wonderful singer-songwriter Peter Mayer on Sunday, March 29th at 7pm. Before that I'm scheduled to perform with The Stan McMahon Band at their Cd-release party on Friday, February 27th at The White Eagle . I will be playing the electric bass, filling-in for Nathan Jr. who will be touring with M. Ward. On Saturday, January 17th there will be a "coffeehouse" also at the liberal church in Vancouver WA which is an informal talent-show with desserts and beverages. I'm doing some duets with a female singer and maybe one or two songs as a solo---maybe a stand-up comedy routine. They are always a fun gig. The music of Guided By Voices will be featured on Saturday April 11th when Tigerbomb re-unites for a show in Portland and of course Giant Bug Village will also be there to represent. Maybe one other band. UPDATE: its now at the East End and we're trying to get Pure Country Gol...
Now its been more than a year since the last post. 2008 has been a pretty good year for me. Did some good gigs with Giant Bug Village and also Graham & The Crackers . Seems like both bands are taking a break right now. Also did some performances at the UU Church and folks seemed to dig what I was doing. Currently serving as the chair of the music committee at said church, and also leading the team that deals with gay and lesbian issues. We're no longer doing the ACIM discussion group, though I sure enjoyed that experience and the people involved In the last year I've been enjoying some podcasts such as: Gary Renard Occult of Personality Thelema Coast-to-Coast (I guess this one has ended) There's some folks that have a podcast of the text of ACIM and its pretty good too. Maybe in 2009 I'll finally keep going with the WORKBOOK for acim ---seem like I've started a couple times and fallen off around February (I need the calendar thingy that helps you track wh...
